5th Annual Literary Event Fundraiser - Tuesday May 21

The Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center, in partnership with The Bookstore of Glen Ellyn, welcomes award-winning Chicago-based author Rebecca Makkai to its Annual Literary Event Fundraiser, being held on May 21, 2019 at Reserve 22 in Glen Ellyn.  Rebecca will share her latest work, The Great Believers (Viking/PenguinRandomHouse), and the literary journey that got her there. Rebecca Makkai has won numerous awards and accolades for her novel The Great Believers, including the 2019 American Library Association’s Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, the New York Times’ Top Ten Book Award for 2018, and the Chicago Review of Books Award, and was named a finalist for the National Book Award.  Michael Cunningham, in his New York Times book review states, “Rebecca Makkai’s The Great Believers is a page turner … An absorbing and emotionally riveting story about what it’s like to live during times of crisis.”  The Boston Globe refers to it as “Engrossing…thrilling and beautiful to behold.”

Tickets are $60 in advance or $65 at the door, and include light appetizers and one drink. The event takes place Tuesday, May 21, 6:30 – 9:00 pm at Reserve 22, 485 Winchell Way Glen Ellyn, IL.
